Frequently Asked Questions
Beyond Closed Doors Therapy
What types of therapy do you offer?
I offer individual, couples, and family therapy with a focus on relational healing, attachment, and intergenerational dynamics. I also offer group therapy and workshops.
Do you only work with people impacted by addiction?
No. While I specialize in supporting partners, children, and family members of individuals with substance use challenges, my practice serves anyone seeking to strengthen their relationships and navigate family dynamics.
Do you see clients virtually or in-person?
I currently only provide therapy virtually for clients located in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. Occasional in-person events and workshops are offered throughout the year.
What is the meaning behind the name "Beyond Closed Doors"?
The name reflects the unseen impact of family and relational struggles that often happen behind the scenes. I aim to create a safe space to explore those experiences and move toward healing, connection, and growth.
What is your approach to therapy?
I focus on supporting people to feel more connected in their relationships—whether that’s with a partner, family member, or themselves. I'm not here to judge or diagnose your every move. Instead, I listen, ask real questions, and work with you to understand what’s going on beneath the surface, so you can start feeling more grounded and supported in your life and relationships.
What insurance do you accept?
I partner with Headway to make scheduling and using your insurance benefits easier. You can view accepted plans, check your coverage, and book directly through the Headway platform.
I am in-network with the following insurance providers:
Aetna, Anthem EAP – Bank of America, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, Independence Blue Cross Pennsylvania, Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic, Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic Medicare Advantage, Optum Medicaid VA, Oscar (Optum), Oxford (Optum), Quest Behavioral Health, United Healthcare (Optum), United Healthcare Medicare Advantage
If your plan isn’t listed, feel free to reach out—I'm happy to provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you offer support for parenting or families with young children?
Yes. I offer parenting support, workshops (such as Bringing Baby Home), and family therapy to strengthen communication, connection, and emotional safety in your household.
Can I come to therapy alone to work on my relationship?
Absolutely! Many clients come individually to work through relational concerns, past attachment wounds, or patterns they want to change in current or future relationships.
I grew up in a home affected by substance use. Is therapy right for me?
Yes. Therapy can help you explore how your past impacts your present relationships, build healthier patterns, and begin healing from unresolved family dynamics.
How do I get started?
You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs, learn more about BCD Therapy, and explore whether it's the right fit. If not, I'll help you find a provider that better matches what you're looking for.
